U.S. Postal Service Upgrades San Mateo Computing Facility with NetEx and HP

Users Report 800 Percent Improvement in Large-File Throughput

MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 15th, 2004—NetEx® – the industry’s provider of the world’s fastest data transport with guaranteed data delivery – today announced that the United States Postal Service’s (USPS) computing facility in San Mateo, Calif., has upgraded its high-speed LAN and provided standards-based IP connectivity between the new HP ES80s and an IBM O/S390 system by installing NetEx/IPTM software and supporting hardware.

According to NetEx CEO Craig Gust, “USPS users have reported an above-expectation 800 percent improvement in large data-file throughput since the completion of the three-week project during Q4 CY2003. The combination of HP ES80 processors replacing HP GS160 systems and NetEx/IP software replacing legacy NETEX software and StorageTek DXE hardware provides more computing power and faster transmission for USPS’ expanding applications,” he said.

NetEx provided support services for the new network’s installation, configuration and integration. Existing applications required no rewrites or changes.
