NETEX UNLEASHES INDUSTRY'S FASTEST ACCELERATOR FOR DATA MOVEMENT OVER IP WANS

HyperIP R5 delivers performance up to 480 Mbps over any distance

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., July 19, 2004—NetEx, the worldwide leader in high performance data transport solutions, today announced HyperIP® R5, the next-generation software accelerator that enables unprecedented high-speed data movement over cost-effective IP networks. HyperIP R5 eliminates distance and IP performance limitations for high-volume data on high-bandwidth IP networks.

IETF standards-based HyperIP is the fastest industry-hardened high-volume data transfer over IP-based WANs. HyperIP R5 expands the performance envelope up to 480 Mbps. This is more than a 200 percent speed improvement over the previous release of HyperIP and far outpaces any other technology in the market today. NetEx’s exclusive acceleration and shielding technology reduces bandwidth and equipment costs for time-sensitive, mission-critical data for organizations with high-speed WAN linked sites. HyperIP R5 eliminates TCP/IP degradation issues associated with distances greater than 200 circuit miles or 320 kilometers and packet loss. This results in an application throughput boost ranging from 300 to 1,000 percent compared to standard IP networks. Turning on HyperIP compression increases that throughput an additional 2 to 15 times, depending on the data’s compressibility.

In addition to its own increased performance, HyperIP R5 gives critical storage applications quantifiably better end-to-end performance. HyperIP R5 has added proxy server support and is now tested and NetEx qualified with EMC SRDF Adaptive Copy and SRDF/A on Gigabit Ethernet Directors, Network Appliance SnapMirror, Veritas Volume Replicator and NetBackup, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, Microsoft Exchange NetBIOS, Oracle DB Rsync, NSI DoubleTake, McDATA iFCP, industry-standard iSCSI, and industry-standard FTP.

“Data protection applications have clearly embraced TCP/IP,” said Robert MacIntyre, Vice President Business Development at NetEx. “The problem is that TCP/IP WANs were never designed to handle the increasingly high volume of data these applications must transport over distance. This results in the application not meeting data protection windows of time. NetEx recognized this market dynamic and HyperIP R5 is the cost effective solution to this problem.”

"HyperIP R5 is a key piece of the solution puzzle that has been missing from the data storage market," said Greg Schulz, senior analyst for the Evaluator Group. "Exponential data growth, network bandwidth costs, and new data protection regulations have put incredible pressure on the ability of storage applications to meet geographically dispersed user requirements. NetEx assists in eliminating that pressure of moving data more efficiently over IP networks while enabling more effective network bandwidth usage."

Unlike existing techniques for high-speed data transport that increase complexity and cost with additional hardware requirements, HyperIP is a simple appliance that easily attaches to an existing network infrastructure and requires no changes to servers/storage controllers, applications and/or network devices.

HyperIP R5 delivers unmatched performance, application support and data integrity for WAN-based IP data transfers. No other IP solution offers comparable application acceleration and bandwidth conservation with the highest end-to-end throughput. HyperIP R5 ensures that challenging data transfers are consistently completed on time between distributed servers for data warehousing and data mining, financial, medical, and digital video images and high-performance technical computing. HyperIP brings the same benefits to extended iSCSI targets, providing better performance over distance, improved link utilizations and a shield against packet loss.

HyperIP R5 is available immediately with MSRP starting at $19,750 U.S. list.
