NETEX JOINS THE VERITAS ENABLED™ PROGRAM NetEx collaborates with VERITAS Software to enable performance interoperability in heterogeneous storage environmentsMINNEAPOLIS, Minn., November 30, 2004—NetEx, the worldwide leader in high performance data transport solutions, today announced that it has joined the VERITAS Enabled™ Program and has completed interoperability testing of NetEx HyperIP for use with VERITAS™ Volume Replicator. The VERITAS Enabled Program ensures products are joint-tested and validated to help customers manage complex, heterogeneous storage environments, ease multi-vendor implementations and reduce costs through improved storage utilization and management. NetEx develops HyperIP, the fastest industry-hardened high-volume data transfer protocol for IP-based WANs. HyperIP expands the performance envelope of storage application performance over WANs up to 480 Mbps. This far outpaces any other technology on the market today. NetEx’s exclusive acceleration and shielding technology reduces bandwidth and equipment costs for time-sensitive, mission-critical data for organizations with high-speed WAN linked sites. HyperIP mitigates TCP/IP degradation issues associated with packet loss, regardless of distance. This results in an application throughput boost ranging from 300 to 1,000 percent compared to standard IP networks. Turning on HyperIP compression increases that throughput an additional two to 15 times, depending on the compressibility of the data. By joining the VERITAS Enabled Program, NetEx and VERITAS customers can benefit from significantly higher levels of performance and data protection as a result of solutions that are tested, validated and supported by the two companies. This relationship will help guarantee interoperability and assist companies in managing the complexity within today’s real-world data environments with minimum headaches and faster resolution of support issues. “Our acceptance into the VERITAS Enabled Program is the first step in our commitment to customers utilizing our innovative storage applications,” said Robert MacIntyre, Vice President Business Development and Marketing at NetEx. “Just as we strive to deliver superior and faster IP network performance, we also strive to eliminate the complexity that heterogeneous storage environments so often create.” “We are pleased to welcome NetEx as a partner in the VERITAS Enabled Program,” said Kenneth Jensen, VERITAS Enabled Program director, VERITAS Software. “NetEx’s membership in the program and the testing efforts that have been completed will help assure NetEx customers that HyperIP is compatible with VERITAS Volume Replicator, and that customers will benefit from dependable and reliable storage solutions as they architect their data centers.” “Reliable and cost effective replication of data between storage systems at multiple locations is an absolutely critical element for enterprises seeking to consolidate their storage assets and improve business continuity," said Richard Villars, Vice President of Storage Systems research at IDC. "With this announcement of proven interoperability between VERITAS' Volume Replicator and NetEx's HyperIP, companies that rely on VERITAS to protect and replicate their data will be able to more reliably and cost effectively move information between data centers" NetEx products provide the fastest data transport in the industry. Unlike existing techniques for high-speed data transport that increase complexity and cost with additional hardware requirements, NetEx’s HyperIP is a simple appliance that easily attaches to an existing network infrastructure and requires no changes to applications or code upgrades to existing network devices.
