NETEX ENABLES LARGE-SCALE DATA MIGRATION
OVER IP NETWORKS WITH HYPERIP
DATA MIGRATION OPTIMIZER (DMO) PROGRAM

Program provides qualified storage resellers, project consultants and System Integrators (SIs) with simple and cost-effective means to accelerate their client's data migration requirements on a short-term basis.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., Nov. 29, 2005 -- NetEx, the worldwide leader in high performance data transport solutions, announced the release of its HyperIP Data Migration Optimizer program, the industry’s first DMO service, developed to enable large-scale data migration acceleration over existing IP networks and provide a simpler, more cost-effective alternative to Fibre Channel over IP technologies.

HyperIP DMO addresses requirements of organizations that need to move large amounts of mission-critical data between locations without the security and logistical concerns of physically transferring media, and without the cost and complexity required by other transport technologies.  No other IP-based data migration offers comparable application performance, bandwidth conservation and end-to-end throughput than HyperIP DMO.

“Many organizations today are unable to address their migration requirements when multiple terabytes of data need to be moved within restricted timeframes. Migration efforts are further complicated because most organizations rely upon less effective transport technologies, such as TCP, which inhibits performance throughput and keeps them from fully utilizing their expensive bandwidth resources,” said Robert MacIntyre, Vice President of Business Development and Marketing at NetEx. “HyperIP DMO overcomes these transport limitations and provides a simple, secure solution with predictable and consistent performance that operates over standards-based IP networking infrastructures. The same technology helped EarthLink move over 60 TB of data at more than 1 TB per hour between their Pasadena and Atlanta data centers during a recent mail migration and consolidation effort.”

HyperIP DMO Program

The HyperIP DMO program is aimed at qualified storage resellers, project consultants and System Integrators (SIs) who need to provide their clients with a simple and cost-effective means to accelerate their data migration requirements on a short-term project basis (three to six months). Qualified NetEx HyperChannel partners can receive substantial discounts to include HyperIP as part of their complete data migration project offering. Current data migration customers have seen a 300-700 percent increase in effective data throughput when deploying HyperIP. Once the HyperIP DMO project is completed, the HyperIP appliances can be redeployed for other migration initiatives or returned to NetEx.

The HyperIP DMO program leverages NetEx’s HyperIP technology, which optimizes data replication when moving data over IP wide-area network (WAN) connections. HyperIP operates as network device, providing transparent data replication “acceleration” across IP WANs while improving link utilization and shielding against the effects of packet loss. HyperIP also offers data block-level compression and sequence reduction algorithms for improving effective data throughput by a factor of 2:1 up to 15:1, depending on the data. With HyperIP DMO, companies can utilize their existing Ethernet and IP WAN infrastructure for data migrations, including transfers over the public Internet.

HyperIP DMO migrations can be accomplished with a wide variety of industry-leading data replication/migration products such as: EMC SRDF Adaptive Copy and SRDF/A on Gigabit Ethernet Directors, EMC Centera & Celerra Replicator, Network Appliance (NetApp) SnapMirror and SnapVault, Softek Replicator, Symantec Volume Replicator and Replication Exec, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, Oracle DataGuard and DB Rsync, NSI Double-Take and industry-standard FTP applications.

Pricing and availability

The HyperIP DMO program is generally available for qualified storage resellers, consultants and SIs focused on delivering data migration services to their customers. Monthly rental fees start at $2,043 per system (U.S. List price less applicable discounts) with a renewable three-month minimum term.
