NETEX HyperIP OPTIMIZES DATA REPLICATION BETWEEN ORACLE TECHNOLOGY CENTERS Oracle customers plan remote data protection strategies to include "rate limiting" functionality and secure implementations using WAN encryption MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., September 19, 2005 NetEx, the worldwide leader in high performance data transport solutions, today announced HyperIP DRO is being utilized by Oracle Corp. to optimize data movement between Oracle’s Atlanta-based Enterprise Technology Center and the Oracle Partner Technology Center in Reston, VA. The Enterprise Technology Center provides highly skilled technical assistance for customers evaluating Oracle products and solutions configured in collaboration with specialized offerings from key software and hardware partners. The deployment of HyperIP enables Oracle to perform high-performance asynchronous remote replication between the two sites in support of a broad range of business continuity and disaster recovery applications. The HyperIP-enabled WAN allows Oracle partners to more effectively showcase the WAN functionality of their solutions. “We’re honored to be included with the elite group of vendors providing infrastructure solutions for Oracle’s Technology Centers,” said Robert MacIntyre, Vice President, Business Development and Marketing at NetEx. “Oracle user feedback has been very positive and extremely valuable to ensure that Oracle partners and customers get the most value from HyperIP.” As part of those customer interactions, NetEx is planning to demonstrate WAN encryption interoperability and optimization with the leading storage encryption solution providers over an IP connection. The HyperIP solution with encryption will also be deployed at the Oracle Technology Centers. Fibre Channel based WAN technologies increase complexity, require additional hardware, a separate network to manage, an executive-approved plan for implementation, increased management involvement, potential increased staffing requirements, all leading to substantially higher costs. HyperIP DRO installs as a simple appliance that easily attaches to an existing IP infrastructure and requires no changes to applications or code upgrades to network devices. HyperIP DRO brings the most complete suite of tested, qualified and vendor approved data replication applications in the industry. HyperIP DRO ensures that data replication applications are consistently completed on time between distributed servers and/or storage controllers for compliant disaster recovery applications. No other IP-based data replication product offers comparable application performance, bandwidth conservation and end-to-end throughput than HyperIP DRO. For enterprises choosing iSCSI or TCP-based remote replication, HyperIP DRO benefits these applications by accelerating data replication over any distance, improving link utilization and shielding against the effects of packet loss.
