NetEx Unleashes Competitor to Fibre Channel over IP with
HyperChannel Reseller Program

‘FC over IP-busting’ technology gives storage resellers a more powerful, affordable and simpler way to replicate data over the WAN

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., June 20, 2005 — NetEx®, the worldwide leader in high performance data transport solutions, announced their entry into the channel with the launch of the company’s HyperChannel® reseller program. The program gives selected resellers the opportunity to offer the highest performance and most widely supported data replication acceleration solution in the industry with NetEx’s HyperIP DRO (Data Replication Optimizer).

NetEx’s HyperIP DRO appliance was the industry’s first data replication optimizer, accelerating best-in-class replication applications from leading vendors such as EMC, NetApp and Veritas up to 10 times faster than previously possible. This performance boost significantly minimizes the time required to replicate data or move large amounts of information between corporate locations. Because HyperIP DRO is based on native Gigabit Ethernet and IP, it eliminates the complexity and expense of FC over IP solutions, while providing higher performance.

“NetEx’s HyperChannel program has been created to help storage-focused resellers use HyperIP DRO as a ‘FC over IP-buster’ to provide a far more effective approach for business continuance, disaster recovery (BC/DR) and data migration solutions for Global 5000 companies,” said Steve Pheneger, Program Manager at NetEx. “With HyperIP DRO, companies can deploy the industry’s highest performing data replication platform and maximize their current network equipment and bandwidth investment.”

NetEx has developed its HyperChannel Accelerate training program to provide a fast-track approach to channel education and support to allow resellers to quickly begin providing the benefits of HyperIP DRO to their customers. Combining dedicated SE resources with hands-on lab and online training programs to ensure partner readiness within one week, the HyperChannel reseller program allows channel partners to enter new markets and penetrate existing markets with an affordable solution for BC/DR and data migration requirements.

Installed as a simple appliance that easily attaches to a company’s existing IP infrastructure via an 11 mouse-click setup process, HyperIP DRO requires no changes to servers, storage controllers, applications or network devices. It allows companies to completely avoid Fibre Channel-based WAN technologies that require additional hardware, a separate network to manage, an executive-approved plan for implementation, increased management touches, and potential increased staffing requirements associated with FC over IP.

“As a current reseller of the NetEx HyperIP product, we see the new HyperChannel reseller program as a logical expansion of an already strong program,” said Mark Carlo, Founder, President and CEO of Prism Secure Networks Inc., located in Brampton, Ontario. “With the increased pressure to cost-effectively and securely protect corporate information assets through a comprehensive BC/DR strategy, our customers are demanding the capabilities of HyperIP. Because of high price of bandwidth in Canada, our customers need to better utilize their current investment in the WAN infrastructure. Adding bandwidth in order to replicate data between their facilities is a large operating expense for our customers. But with HyperIP they can leverage their current investment in equipment, bandwidth and people without introducing new technologies like Fibre Channel (over IP).”

“We’ve structured the HyperChannel program to allow our partners to capture three revenue streams that bring ongoing benefits to the channel, including the initial system sale, recurring software licensing fees and online product upgrades,” said Pheneger. “Our job is to make the channel successful, and with HyperChannel, resellers win in multiple ways – with margin protection on the initial sale through deal registration, ongoing revenues through software licensing and “speed-key” upgrades, while also providing a broader technology offering that allows the channel to better serve BC/DR and data migration requirements within Global 5000 companies in an affordable and efficient manner.”

NetEx’s HyperChannel reseller program is open to qualified VARs that address the data replication and migration needs within the Global 5000 marketplace. VARs who require more information, or who wish to join the HyperChannel program, should contact NetEx’s channel sales organization at 763-694-4309 or visit: http://www.netex.com/partners/index.html.
