Announcing HyperIP Data Replication Optimization (DRO) Version 5.3 NetEx enhances award-winning HyperIP and pronounces Fibre Channel (FC) over IP WAN obsolete!
NetEx released version 5.3 of HyperIP DRO, the industry’s first Data Replication Optimizer (DRO), enabling
maximum data replication acceleration over existing Gigabit Ethernet & TCP/IP networks and providing an alternative
to expensive and complex Fibre Channel over IP WAN technologies. HyperIP eliminates the inefficiencies of traditional
TCP/IP-based networks by accelerating leading data replication applications critical to supporting business continuity
and disaster recovery compliance and ensuring these applications are consistently completed on time. Data replication
optimization substantially improves end-to-end performance and minimizes the risk of non-compliance, compared with
costly and complex Fibre Channel WAN products. HyperIP works with leading data replication application vendors, including
EMC, NetApp and Symantec (VERITAS) to boost effective data throughput ranging from 300 to 1000 percent depending on
the application, distance and network environment.

Time-of-Day
Rate Limiting Feature Added in HyperIP DRO 5.4
NetEx responds to customer requests with “Time-of-Day”Rate Limiting feature
in next software release version 5.4
As customers implement their information life cycle management (ILM) strategies, they are particularly interested
in creating a multi-tiered data availability and protection policy that matches the needs of their specific applications. These
policies include pulling together multiple vendors’storage replication applications (or methods) which are normally
distributed throughout their geographically dispersed locations. As companies “ditch”their proprietary
networks in order to converge all their network communications onto a single protocol (IP), storage replication applications
must also adjust to this trend just like other traffic (voice, video and data) to take advantage of the inherent cost
and operating advantages of a single network protocol.
But with this convergence brings a new level of challenges for applications that weren’t designed to co-exist
with other applications or run over extended distances. NetEx has responded to our customers' requests with a
new feature for HyperIP DRO that enables network and storage managers to implement bandwidth “rate limiting”feature
by time-of-day. Now bandwidth hungry data replication applications (like disk mirroring and tape backups) can
be “throttled”based on the time of available of bandwidth. For example, companies can accelerate
tape backup traffic during off hours when normal client interactive traffic is less intensive. This protects
time sensitive applications from being “over-run”by applications that normally demand large, dedicated
bandwidth. This is just one example of how NetEx is optimizing data replication applications for our customers!

NetEx Receives
Industry Praise, Awards and Endorsements for HyperIP
HyperIP receives Product of the Year from Storage Magazine and Highest Rating
from InfoWorld
NetEx was one of the top winners of the “2004 Products of the Year”award presented
by the editors of TechTarget’s Storage magazine and SearchStorage.com as its HyperIP® storage appliance received
the silver award in the competition’s networking equipment category. NetEx’s HyperIP was honored
based on its innovation, performance, ease of integration into existing environments, ease of use and manageability,
functionality and value as judged by the TechTarget Storage Media Group editorial staff, in conjunction with a team
of users, industry experts, analysts and consultants. “HyperIP solves a costly market problem,”said
one judge who goes on to say, “It’s a unique product that is very easy to use and manage. The value
is exceptional.”
NetEx also achieved the “Excellent”designation for its HyperIP storage appliance in a standalone review
published in InfoWorld. This is the highest rating bestowed upon products evaluated by the magazine’s Test Center. In
the article “HyperIP boosts data-replication efficiency –NetEx appliance speeds storage transfers across
noisy WAN links,”IT consultant Logan Harbaugh praised the HyperIP’s functionality in “counteracting
the effects of latency over a WAN link; compressing data at the block level; and increasing the tolerance of TCP applications
for latency, jitter, bit error rate, and bandwidth variation.”

EarthLink Completes 60 TB Coast-to-Coast Email
Migration using NetEx’s HyperIP
Coast-to-coast data migration solution using EMC’s SRDF over IP/MPLS Internet backbone
achieves 50% performance improvement to reach theoretical maximum with HyperIP
NetEx and EMC recently completed a 60 terabyte email migration project for EarthLink (NASDAQ:
ELNK), the nation’s next generation Internet service provider. The project leveraged NetEx’s HyperIP DRO
(Data Replication Optimizer) to accelerate the performance of EMC’s Symmetrix Remote Data Facility (SRDF) over
the Internet. EarthLink’s Mail Storage Consolidation project consisted of relocating more than nine million
mailboxes from Pasadena, Calif., to their Atlanta data center during a single overnight window. EarthLink accomplished
their migration by implementing a cross-country Gigabit Ethernet solution that combined HyperIP and SRDF to move the
data over their production 800 Mbps IP/MPLS Internet backbone.

Telstra Builds New Data Backbone Network with
HyperIP
HyperIP accelerates new data backbone network including future storage networking and disaster
recovery applications
Telstra—Australia's leading telecommunications and information services company—will use its HyperIP application
accelerator to provide fully redundant failover support for Telstra's new data backbone network linking Melbourne and
Sydney. Telstra will use the new network for segregating bulk data traffic from interactive traffic to eliminate
congestion and delays and improve user productivity. While immediate plans will focus on transmission of Oracle database
updates with FTP, Telstra plans to use the network technology to support future storage networking and disaster recovery
applications.

Global Energy Company Accelerates Multi-Vendor
Data Replication for BC/DR
HyperIP accelerates multi-vendor storage replication applications to deliver business continuance
and disaster recovery over existing IP infrastructure
A large, global energy company has selected HyperIP to accelerate their multi-vendor storage replication applications
in order to deliver business continuity and disaster recovery services over their existing IP infrastructure. With
diverse business operations scattered throughout the world, the company sought a data protection strategy that could
scale to meet a broad range of technical and operational requirements. The company needed to replicate critical data
between their geographically distributed locations independent of server or storage platforms. The initial phase of
the solution concentrated on accelerating traffic between the company’s data centers within the United States
for supporting multiple storage replication applications such as NSI Software’s Double-Take, NetApp’s SnapMirror
and EMC’s Centera Replication utilizing their existing IP infrastructure.
