Centralized or offsite backup from remote branch servers or desktops experience significant challenges when using the allocated bandwidth for these branches. Multiple applications run over these circuits supporting browser based financial apps, email, messaging, and streaming of video for employee training. The impact that a backup application has on a WAN link when started, is detrimental to the other apps on that link. HyperIP can improve performance of the offsite backup app, but shield the other user traffic by implementing a QOS rate limiting of that backup app. This ensures that there is enough bandwidth for the end users in the branch for the applications driving their productivity.
Compliance in the Financial Services vertical requires a Disaster Recovery plan for most bank’s and financial services company’s data centers. These DR sites have to be geographically dispersed for obvious reasons, but most importantly, the Recovery Time Objective needs to be in minutes or hours versus days for the day-to-day operations of the institution to resume.
